Record Store Day Drop #2

Record Store Day Drop #2

For 13 years, Record Store Day has been around to celebrate over 1,400 independent record stores and their communities. This day is spent similarly to a holiday- but for music lovers and artists! It’s a day where music meets community, with local shops and fellow vinyl addicts coming together for a mutual love for all things music.

As Kansas City’s top record store for the last 47 years, the Vinyl Underground at 7th Heaven is prepped to have a sweet RSD Drop #2!

Record Store Day Drops 2021

Record Store Day Round 2 is action-packed with some goodies if you know what to look for. Here are a few to keep your eye on!

Italian Stallon OST – Del Casher

If I can snag a copy of one of the 1,000 of these released, I will have to be sure to file this under “oh yeah.” Del Casher of the world-famous Wrecking Crew enjoyed the Rocky soundtrack so much that he set out to make his own music inspired by the film. While it never made it into a Rocky film, it did become the soundtrack for a rebranded Sylvester Stallone film called “Italian Stallion,” which was a reissue of Stallone’s first film (and softcore porn) “The Party at Kitty and Stud’s.” If you like Bill Conti, disco jazz/funk, or just enjoy some great background music, this album is a must-have in your collection
Evanescence – The Open Door
Fifteen years later, this album still rocks. While this album is not particularly rare, the 15th-anniversary edition comes on gray marbled vinyl. It’s full of great tracks, from the mega-hits “Call Me When You
‘re Sober,” “Sweet Sacrifice,” and “Lithium” to lesser-known rockers like “Cloud Nine.”
Wax Poetic – Self Titled
Ok, so hear me out. A trip-hoppy, loungey acid jazz record with Blue Note Records sensation Norah Jones on vocals. Sounds crazy right? Not if you are lucky enough to snag a copy of Wax Poetic. With Norah providing vocals on what is her first commercial performance, this Norah like you’ve never heard before. It’s pressed on clear vinyl, but is SUPER limited to 500 copies. – Brad Simmons
